Parents and Grand Parents Sponsorship

The Parent and Grandparent Sponsorship program is one of Canada’s most popular immigration programs. The program permits Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their parents or grandparents for permanent residence in Canada.

The program opens during the start of each year and accepts only a limited number of applications.

Interested sponsors will complete an online form when the program starts accepting the Interest applications at the beginning of the year and then the Ministry of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship (IRCC) will accept the applications on first come first serve basis. In 2019, first 27,000 complete applications were accepted by IRCC. Out of these, first 20,000 eligible applicants will be invited to send in their full application to sponsor their parents and grandparents. Sponsors will have 60 days to submit their complete application to the IRCC.

If you would like to sponsor your parents or grandparents to come to Canada, please contact us to know more details.

SPONSORING OTHER ELIGIBLE RELATIVES

You may also be able to sponsor other eligible relatives including:

  • Brothers or sisters, nephews or nieces, granddaughters or grandsons who are orphaned, under 18 years of age and not married or in a common-law relationship

  • Another relative of any age or relationship but only if the sponsor is alone in Canada and there is nobody else that could be sponsored.

  • Accompanying dependents of the above (for example, spouse, partner and dependent children).

If you sponsor a relative to come to Canada as a permanent resident, you must:

  • support your relative financially when they arrive

  • be able to meet basic needs for yourself and your relative, such as food, shelter and clothing

  • make sure your relative doesn’t need social assistance
